This really made me think! For me, it’s dresses. Love to buy ‘em, imagining a future occasion to wear them. And then I almost always want to pivot to pants instead. I have come to accept I am a Pants Person and luckily there are many brilliant options for all occasions out there that I am fully leaning into!

Oh I totally feel that with dresses too! I do love wearing them on occasion, but I have so many dresses that I like the idea of but just are so not me! Love the leaning into being a Pants Person 🥰

Agree! Love the idea, not the actually wearing of them!

Long coats. I live in Massachusetts. If it’s cold enough for a long cloth coat then I just wear a puffer type jacket. And since my days of waiting for a bus in the elements are behind me, a long coat is awkward in the car. Also blazers. I have 2. A black one and a navy one. For interviews and funerals. 3. The “perfect” white t-shirt. Yeah I refuse to spend money on anything that ends up with a coffee stain on the boob (actually most light colored Ts) after 2 wears.

I'm forever torn between wanting that perfect white t-shirt and feeling exactly the same way! The struggle!

I love this idea of using your learnings from 2024 to pinpoint specific no-buys!

Here here on the sporty, chunky sneakers! I had the same realization this year and also pivoted to shoes that add polish instead. I tend to wear more causal bottoms, so a neater shoe adds the right contrast for me.

Another one for me is floral print. Every once in a while something possesses me to buy a floral print dress or skirt, which the model is almost always wearing while frolicking in a field of grass. That’s just not my lifestyle and that level of romance has no business in my closet. 😂

Omg yes the floral print 😭!! Those are absolutely banned from my closet for the same reason!

just do a floral scarf and when done with it gift it or make a pillow out of it.

items i don't try on first.. im going back into stores, trying on and taking my time selecting items i love.. tired of trying to guess how something fits by reading reviews.

i am going to rediscover the fun of a shopping trip not online scrolling!

This is a good one! I also find I'm always so much more picky (in a good way) in person. I find it much easier to say no to something that I don't love!

I love this take on a no-buy! I'm doing a full no-buy for 2025 with the exception that I can always buy Schiaparelli as I see fit (cause free will).

Hahaha that's a great exception!!

Sporty sneakers for sure - I had one pair of chunky ones a few years ago and could not get rid of them - they did not fit any outfit, even my sister and stepdaughter refused to take them for free:)

Yes, sweaters that are too bulky! Good value during the pandemic when nobody went outside but now…

Such a good one to be aware of too! It's so easy to accumulate items like this in our closets!

I’ve always hated the trend of wearing sporty sneakers with basically anything. Very Copenhagen. Very NOT ME! So happy and pleased to see them on your no-buy list for 2025. I much prefer the now old Toteme minimalistic white sneaker and the Dries van Noten one now wildly copied by the COS’es and Zara’s of this world. As I do need sneakers. Only not the sporty ones. They belong to the gym ☺️

Love this! I want to be an Abercrombie girl so bad, but the fit is always so off on my body. The only thing that works from that store for me is Jean shorts. I have 3 pairs, i think I’m good on Abercrombie until I need a new pair of shorts

Same item different colour!! I needed to read that someone else was feeling this not working. It’s also a no go for me this year.

Yes!! Outside of denim, this has never worked for me!

Such a good take on a no buy! Mine is no more maximalist/prints/overly designed clothing. I have a closet full of these and am finding way more joy and styling options in solid colors and simpler silhos.

I so agree about same item, different color! I need to stop.

I’m also thinking about a certain brand whose stuff I’m always tempted by but never works for me. They’re going on my no buy list!

Oooo ok I like this - I hadn't thought about brands that consistently don't work for me but I continue falling for...adding this one to the list!!
