This is me, love the idea of a white shirt but never reach for it. I then discovered With Nothing Underneath’s shirt, and I’ve not looked back. The weave fabric and linen shirts are my favourite. They’re based off men’s shirt, so to me button placement is really good.

I too have fallen into the same trap of feeling like I “need” a white button down in my closet but never wearing them. Then I realized that I really love when a button down is worn in a super casual almost sexy open way but the buttons don’t always hit where I want them too. Enter fabric tape! It’s a game changer for getting that effortlessly cool/sexy I threw this on vibe

The only button ups that I feel comfortable wearing are denim ones- it’s funny how fabric can make or break something!

You’ve hit the nail on the head with this post! I definitely prefer shirts that are in a drapier fabric such as tencel. Plus it is also rare to find one that has perfect button placement and doesn’t pull across the bust or hug the hips too tightly. I’m really short waisted so have to choose petite options which are usually limited when it comes to nice fabrics and styles. But I’m always on the hunt! I recently bought a really lovely denim one from Levi’s.

I love shirts, but I struggle with them too, particularly the ones that need ironing. Poplin isn’t something I’m gravitating towards, even in summer - I’m still hot! Often my favourites are not natural fibres, as long as they’re breathable. I like the drape and it look a little less classic and boring?

I love this! I think the more specific we get about our PERSONAL likes and dislikes, the better we are at shopping and styling for ourselves!

I LOVE the crispness of a white button up... on other people. On me, especially in humid and hot tropical Singapore, button ups quickly wilt... I've realized satin or linen work so much in our climate!
